Skiing Cost in Japan vs. 1 lift ticket in usa: OK OK you’re seeing that everyone & their mother is in Japan right now… so let’s break down just how much I am spending on my trip here… Especially because in the states (CO), 1 lift ticket is $350+ for a DAY PASS… & TBH, I think you can do Japan for as cheap or expensive as you want! Both options are possible. let’s break down how much a typical day of skiing is here: Location: - Niseko, Japan (note: one of the most pricey & touristy places in Hokkaido) Housing: - My friends and I rented 2 vans for 11 days for $160 per person per day (+ $20 per day in insurance) - We went the van route so we could storm chase the best snow! (and we all live in vans back in the usa so it felt right) - Campsite: FREE (you can stay in rest areas for free!) - RV Park: (Free to us w/ van rental) Food: - Breakfast: 7/11 soft boiled eggs $0.75 - Vending Machine Coffee: $0.65 - Lunch at resort (ramen & beer: $16 (other resorts lunch was $10-15) - Dinner (note this depended on sake some nights): $30-75 per Lift Ticket: - If you have an IKON pass: FREE - Day Pass: $73 (note: this is one of the most expensive in the area) Other resorts ranged from $30-53 per) Resort Parking: - Free! Showers/Onsens: - a Japanese hot spring, defined by naturally geothermally heated water containing minerals, with bathing facilities built around them: $3-10 depending Gas: - In 11 days we only had to fill up twice (which was surprising since we drove a ton!) - Per liter: around $0.90-0.93 TOTAL DAY SPEND: - $244.39 IN JAPAN ….. vs… $356 lift ticket back home & yes yes, you still have to fly to Japan TRUE! But honestly, with all of the deals going to Japan right now, I am sure you can find something. Not to mention, flying domestically is so expensive right now. I can’t get anywhere in USA for less than $500 RT???
