urinary blockage parents, rise up👇🏻 But all jokes aside, male cats are super prone to UTIs and blockages, which can turn fatal fast… within 24–48 hours. So if your cat is showing signs, do not take this lightly. Get them to the vet. Last week I had to rush atlas to the vet for a blockage. At first, Atlas was just a little sluggish, but still eating and drinking fine. I chalked it up to adjusting back to van life. Then I noticed strained peeing, frequent trips with little output, and shallow breathing and rushed him to the Jackson Animal Hospital. An ultrasound confirmed the Atlas’s blockage, and they rushed him into a procedure to flush it. Thankfully, it was the best case scenario and they cleared the blockage. Then atlas had a very expensive night at the hospital where apparently the sweetest boy turned into the biggest monster. He pulled his catheter out at 2am ugh. But, Atlas is back home in the van so let’s talk about prevention because 30% of cats block again: • Switching to prescription wet food (he hates it wet food, plz send recs!) • Distilled water only • Fragrance-free litter • Reducing stress And he needs to lose 4lbs. He’s super active (the kid did 13 miles outside last week), but still a chunky boy, so any weight loss tips are welcome! PLZ SEND RECS FR. For now, he’s peeing consistently and doing much better. It is a bit hard to track because he spends the majority of his time outside so I am having a hard time mentally not knowing. But fingers crossed he remains clear!
