day in the life: summiting Mt Kilimanjaro 👇🏻 For context, we took the Machame Route (second hardest) that has you summiting on the 5th night (7 days total) hiking over 39 miles & 16,000ft up & then down. A lost toenail might be in my future. This trek is no joke. The altitude alone was honestly was the most unsettling part for me. You really don’t know how your body will react at 17, 18, 19k feet until your up there. A woman even lost her vision on top (she's ok now) but apparently having lasik eye surg increases your risk of eye related altitude issues. BUT IMO Kilimanjaro is more achievable than most people think. The key is something you hear everyday, Pole Pole, which means “slowly, slowly” in Swahili. And that’s exactly what you do, you take it one step (and breath) at a time and somehow, it gets you there + once you see that sunrise come over the horizon, your body is flooded with hope. Anyway, WE DID IT YAYAYAY! Lmk if you have any questions #mtkilimanjaro
