I put an offer on my first house!!!! (but then it didn’t work out)👇🏻 These last two weeks have been such a rollercoaster (and honestly a blur). Over the last 10 months, I have been very loosely looking for a house in Washington. While I don’t want to give up van life quite yet, I do need a home base. So I was treating this as a hybrid home, somewhere I could base out of & then rent out when I am traveling. I am coming to the point where I want van life to be in my world just not my whole world anymore- not to mention everything is so temporary, so I need some grounding here soon. While going on a few hour tours here my realtor took me to an off market property & I fell in love. It really had everything I had been looking for… so over the next week, I dropped everything to secure it. This was my first time putting an offer on a house so I had a crash course in financing, inspections, contractors, negotiating, interest rates and I literally called everyone I knew because I am doing this alone. A big thank you to everyone who taught me so so so much. Once everything was figured out, I signed the offer in the middle of the backcountry in a blueberry bush with 1 bar of random service I got and I was SO PROUD OF MYSELF. This was the biggest leap I had made since blowing up my life to live in a van. Long story short, the inspection came back and mostly everything I could handle until I saw that there was some foundation/structural rot and it spooked me. I got scared that this could turn into a bigger project that comes with some risks (long story short) and I pulled out. I know this house will be the perfect project for someone, just not me. I really hope I didn’t make a mistake (because I keep thinking about this house ughh!!) but for my life rn, it felt right. But I am suuuuuper proud of myself for even taking this step. Now I have seen the vision, it’s something I want… so I am excited to see what houses pop up next. If you have any tips for a first timer… let a girl know plzzzz! So in the meantime, I will continue living in a van w/ moo 🫶 Thanks for following our journey!! Realtor: @mrmountaincabin
