48 hours in El Chalten, Patagonia & what we did👇🏻 Hot take: if you don’t have more than a week for El Chaltén, Patagonia… don’t come. Ok so technically we stayed 9 days but it rained our first 6 days, didn’t see Fitz Roy once. Then we got a weather window… and had 48 hours before our flight to see everything. Aka just plan as much time as you possibly can here because the weather is so unpredictable! House wise, we opted for a pretty affordable apartment to stay in the whole time so we didn’t need to “check out” of a hotel or hostel when we backpacked. This was AMAZING to come back to after the trek. DAY 1 - 4am: Laguna Torre sunrise - +9 miles deeper into the park (fall colors everywhere) - Camp Poincenot (~mile 15) - Drop packs +4 miles to Laguna Sucia - Back to camp at 8pm - 19 miles / 48k steps DAY 2 - 4am: Laguna de los Tres sunrise (steep + brutal) - Pack up & hike out with glacier + river views on Rio Electrico (note: you can hike back to El Chalten but we wanted to see the entire length of the park!) - Taxi back to town to pack & eat a steak - Day 3: - 7:00am Final sunrise: the iconic Fitz Roy road - Bus to airport & back to usa Total: ~25 miles in 2 days So yeah… if we only had 6 days here? We wouldn’t have seen any of this. This park can be pretty confusing so lmk if you have any questions!! Happy to help!! w/ @miss.rover #patagonia #elchalten #argentina
