Recipe below!<3 The dessert my mom requests every single year on Mother’s Day: cream puffs filled w/ vanilla ice cream, made using @nielsenmassey pure vanilla extract #nielsenmasseypartner . We top them w/ a dark chocolate ganache & a simple, tart raspberry sauce. The combination of warm & cold + soft & crispy is perfection. This vanilla has been a staple in my pantry since I was a little kid, and I continue to use it today so I’m sooo excited about this partnership. If you see any of their products at Costco, make sure to pick some up, trust me they are the best. Perfect Vanilla Ice Cream Makes 2 pints INGREDIENTS * 1 cup whole milk * 2 and 1/4 cups heavy cream * 1/2 cup granulated sugar * 4-6 egg yolks (depending on how custardy you want it. I usually do 4) * 1/4-1/2 tsp coarse salt (start with 1/4 tsp & add more to taste) * 1-2 tsp @nielsenmassey Pure Vanilla Extract INSTRUCTIONS 1. Pour milk & cream into a pan & bring to a very light simmer over low heat. Simmer on low for 25-30 minutes, if it’s boiling then reduce the heat. You don’t have to stand over it the whole time but whisk every few minutes. 2. In a bowl, whisk together egg yolks, sugar & salt until pale. 3. Slowly add in a couple spoonfuls of the heated milk/cream to the eggs, while whisking quickly as to not scramble the eggs. 4. Then slowly pour the egg mixture into the saucepan with the rest of the milk & cream, whisking frequently for about 3-5 minutes on low to medium low heat. You want it to slightly thicken and be able to coat the back of a spoon. If you have a thermometer, bring the temp to 170*F. Be careful not to overcook & scramble the eggs at this point. 5. Once it’s ready, immediately remove from heat & pour into a bowl. 6. Stir in the vanilla extract before allowing to cool thoroughly in the fridge, about 4 hours or overnight for the best texture. 7. Pour mixture into your ice cream maker. Process following manufacturer instructions. 8. Scoop into a clean container and freeze for at least 3-4 hours before eating. Enjoy!! I’m out of room so I’ll put the cream puff recipe in the comments! #madefromscratch #vanillaicecream #homemade #summerrecipe
