*TW* sharing a little bit of his donor site (where they took his own skin to cover the deep burns on the back of his back right leg, and a little on his left and right arm). I’m also sharing the grafts on his arms because they look so much better than they did a couple of days ago. He is healing so well. As of Friday, we no longer have to wrap his wounds other than the back of his right leg still needs a gray foam pad to allow it more time to heal. We now just have to apply lotion 2-3 times a day and compression sleeves over his right leg and both arms! We’re still waiting on his custom made sleeves that should be here in a couple of weeks, but until then, we have these temporary sleeves. We will have to do this for a year 😭 Trying to get use to this new normal has been hard. We have days where it seems like it isn’t a big deal, and other days it feels heavy and overwhelming. The main thing that is getting us through the hard times is seeing how happy and postive our little Crew man is! He is taking this all like a champ and not letting it hinder him too much. He hasn’t taken pain meds in days and his pain seems to have subsided 🙏🏼 which is the best news ever. His pain at one point in the hospital was so bad to watch 💔 We are so proud of our Crew man and he has been getting so spoiled. We’ve had so much love and support from our family and friends. In case you missed it, our 4 year old son Crew was in a tragic treadmill accident at a friends house and suffered severe friction burns 😢 I am now sharing and will continue to share all of this to spread awareness. Please, if you have a treadmill, make sure to lock it up, get a passcode for it, unplug it, don’t have it close to a wall (because you can get trapped), lock the door to your gym, etc. Do all that you can to keep kids safe. Unfortunately, we’ve learned that friction burns from treadmills are common, especially for kids. We had no clue until medical professionals at the U of U burn unit told us how common this is! Please do all you can to keep everyone safe in your house. I would never want you to have to go through this 😭🙏🏼
