Things are changing. Since I’ve known Matt he has lived his life next to a computer. We used to have date nights in the law library when I first met him. One thing I didn’t know about marrying an attorney is that when you’re operating at the highest level you never are allowed to step away (or even sleep sometimes). Matt has advocated for his clients no matter the circumstances. He even made redlines on a deal while laying in the ER hallway on a stretcher while we waited to find out if he had had a stroke or not. He’s counseled people in the highest office in this country, the biggest brands, and the most powerful people in the world. His resume would make your head spin. However, to become the force that he is he has sacrificed and worked every weekend, every vacation, every sick day, and every holiday he’s ever “taken.” One of the partners he works with said he’s like a Navy Seal of attorneys, and nothing more accurate has ever been said about him. However, after nearly a decade he’s stepping away from the grind of client services and law firms. He has a bright future (and I can’t wait to see what he gets into next), but it will look very different than his present and I can’t believe that I will finally have my husband home for dinner. My dear, you ran an “amazing” race and you deserve all that comes next. Some of you reading this might be a former client (and maybe even someone he negotiated against and you didn’t know it 😂) and if so, he’s gonna be unavailable for a while but he has lots of great attorney recs he can pass along.
